Gözlerden uzak bir köyde geri dönmeyecek kocasının yolunu gözleyen hamile bir kadın. Yüreklerini ağırlaştıran hüzünleri ve kasvetli duruşları, bu insanlara sanki anestezi altındalarmış havası veriyor: Aksak ilerliyorlar, dinlenecek bir yer arar gibiler. Bu yoğun yalnızlık hissi titizlikle kurgulanmış müzikle birleşiyor. Diyalog az, sesler ise ancak gerektiği kadar: Bir köpeğin havlaması, birinin nefes alışı. Solgun mavi ve siyah renklerle dikkatle çevrelenen karakterleri kamera zaman zaman okşuyor o esnada bize de el uzatır gibi. Sandro Aguilar ın bu şiirsel ilk filmi yönetmenin yaratıcı deneysel kısa filmlerinin oluşturduğu beklentiyi fazlasıyla karşılıyor.

Each character in Uprise has to deal with the loss of a loved one. In an apartment, the man tries to get used to the disembodied space where his father lived. A couple expecting a baby live in the remote countryside but one night the husband goes out to never come back. These men and women seem anesthesized in their overwhelming grief and lugubrious aura. Survivors walking in spaces almost devoid of life, namely hospital corridors, they stumble forward, seeking a place to rest. This profound solitude and the feeling of being closed in oneself are conveyed through a meticulously wrought soundtrack. The dialogues are minimal, sounds filtered. Presented as such, the audience is bound to hear the sound of solitude, of the morbid: a breath, a dog yapping... The characters are carefully contoured in somber and bluish colours and often caressed by the camera, thus every affectionate gesture seem to be meant for the audience. Sandro Aguilar s strangely poetic debut more than fulfills the expectations created by his numerous inventive experimental short films.
